An engineer who became a children's book author, and built an agency to help other professionals do the same.
I'm Dr. Tiffani Teachey, founder of Inspired Authors Publishing. As a mechanical engineer, I did a school visit to share how fun engineering can be — and when I asked the kids how many had ever met an engineer, barely any hands went up. Once I shared the fun of engineering and the hands-on activities that come with it, they had met one: me. That moment showed me how much representation matters in STEM, and how much children need to see the careers that are actually out there.
That's what led me to write What Can I Be? STEM Careers from A to Z, my first children's book, built around the diverse STEM Crew Kids characters — and it's what led me to build Inspired Authors Publishing. I help accomplished professionals do exactly what I did: take a career they've worked hard to build and turn it into a children's book that introduces kids to a world of possibility.
What I love most is watching my clients walk away with more than a book — they walk away with a legacy. A published book that puts their career and their story directly in front of children, so kids can see themselves in it too.
Happy Publishing,
Dr. Tiffani Teachey
After a school visit where barely any kids had ever met an engineer, I wrote What Can I Be? STEM Careers from A to Z — built around the diverse STEM Crew Kids characters, so children could see themselves in careers they'd never been introduced to. It became the proof of concept for everything that followed: my speaking, my media work, STEM Crew Magazine, and Inspired Authors Publishing itself. This is the book that turned a career into a legacy — and it's why I help other professionals do the same with theirs.
See the Full PortfolioChildren need to see people and careers that reflect possibility. Every book uses inclusive characters, authentic careers, and intentional audience decisions.
Every book should make an idea, career, or life lesson accessible — with an age-aware concept, a clear learning outcome, and educator extensions.
A book should increase confidence, curiosity, or hope — through a character journey, an empowering ending, and real-world relevance.
The author's knowledge should outlive a single event or platform. You keep your rights, your professional files, and a real expansion strategy.
Impact requires strong writing, art, design, and process — stage gates, specialist review, defined revisions, and quality checks at every step.
Dr. Teachey is a TEDx international speaker, taking the stage at TEDx University of South Africa to share her mission of closing the STEM gap for children. She's built a platform around helping kids see themselves in careers they'd never otherwise be introduced to.
